INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Fees for visa students range up to approximately $12,000 per year, although there are a limited number of Foreign Student Fee Remission Scholarships available for highly qualified foreign students. Such scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. Successful applicants pay the same tuition fee as Canadian students which is approximately one-fifth of the visa student fee. Without such a scholarship, foreign applicants must acquire financial support from their government or other external sources including their own resources. Canadian immigration authorities will not issue a visa unless applicants can demonstrate that they have sufficient financial resources to cover their stay in Canada.

A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) will be required of any applicant who has not completed three or more years of post-secondary work at a Canadian institution, or at an institution where English was the language of instruction, or has been employed for a similar period of time in a position where English was the language of business. Any applicant required to take the TOEFL test must normally achieve a score of 600 or more (or a score of 250 for the computer exam), with scores of at least 50 (or a score of 16 for the computer exam) in each part.

Students may wish to search for possible financial support on the International Education Financial Aid web site.
